Coffee Roast…Why it matters

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

At Bosco’s Beans, we love coffee and the variety of options that bring various flavor profiles or, as we like to say…various “bites”. One of the main ways to bring out the different flavors of coffee beans is by how they are roasted. The reason the roast type matters is that by roasting green coffee beans, you transform the flavor and produce the different types of roasts you can purchase today. The categories of roasts you can purchase are light, medium, medium-dark and dark roast coffee.

Bosco's Beans offers a wide variety of coffee roasts for you to choose from
How you roast coffee beans matters

Light Roast (Light Bite)

Light roasted beans have the shortest roasting time and deliver a more delicate flavor. They do not produce as much oil from the bean and retain the most acidity. These beans are known as Light-City, Half-City, New England Roasts. They can have a lovely lemon or citrus tone. If you are looking for a lighter roast coffee, we recommend our Organic Peruvian Roast.

Medium Roast (Moderate Bite)

A medium roast brings a balanced flavor. It is roasted a bit longer and delivers more body but less acidity to the flavor of the coffee bean. This is the type of coffee that most Americans are used to having. Some of the names this bean is known for are House, Breakfast, American, and Continental. Medium-roasted coffee beans can deliver a sweet caramel flavor tone. If you are looking for a medium roast coffee, we recommend our Bosco's Signature Blend. Our best seller & customer favorite

Dark Roast (Intense Bite)

At Bosco’s Beans, we love coffee with a Bite, and dark roasted beans deliver those rich flavors. A dark roasted coffee bean brings smoky and chocolaty notes with minimal acidity. They achieve this by roasting the coffee bean, so it verges on being blackened. These roasts are known by the names French Roast, Espresso, Italian Dark Roast, and Turkish. If you want a dark roast coffee, we highly recommend trying our Italian Roast and French Maximo blends.

You can also choose the type of coffee you can purchase; whole bean and freshly ground. While grinding your coffee at home will produce an amazingly fresh cup of coffee, Bosco’s Beans ground coffee is ground right before packaging to help ensure the best bite from every cup.

Another factor that can affect the flavor of coffee is its freshness. You want the freshest roast to enjoy the best cup of coffee. That is why our coffee is roasted right before it is packaged and shipped. With every purchase, we strive to deliver the perfect bite!
